  9.     1.    EDC now uses just one path file for all hard disk
  10.         partitions, stored in the root directory of drive C.
  11.         This change improves the way the backspace key works
  12.         during speed searches, and should allow EDC to run 
  13.         faster  on large systems with many logical drives.  You 
  14.         can still access drives explicitly but the speed advantage 
  15.         won't be that great.   Floppy drives still have a separate 
  16.         path file for each floppy, and you will have to scan each 
  17.         floppy  disk to install the path file.

  19.     2.    When a directory was created, removed or renamed
  20.         on a drive locked out with EDNOSCAN, EDC would still 
  21.         try to access the path file.  This problem has now been
  22.         fixed.

  24.     3.    LS has been upgraded to work  with the new version of EDC. 
  25.         You should not try to use  an older version of LS with this 
  26.         version of EDC.

  33.     1.    READ will now allow you to pull in a new file without
  34.         leaving the program.  Pressing F4 will display the current
  35.         directory.  You can then use the arrow keys to select a
  36.         new file or a new directory.  You can start the program in
  37.         this mode by using a directory as an argument.  F2 and F3
  38.         can now be used to start and continue string searches.
  39.         The up arrow key now works like an up arrow key should.

  41.     2.    EDC has been completely reworked and can change to any
  42.         directory on any hard drive without using a drive spec.
  43.         EDC will automatically  scan your drives the first time it 
  44.         is run.  Unwanted drives can be locked out by setting the
  45.         environment variable EDNOSCAN to the letters of the drives
  46.         you want to ignore.  When displaying the directory tree,
  47.         EDC will now give you an opportunity to choose a directory
  48.         at the end of each page.  A new menu for matching directories
  49.         has been installed in both EDC and LS.

  51.     3.    FFIND can now locate files either by date or number of
  52.         days back.

  55.     4.    The short version and the enhanced version of DOSNIX now
  56.         have the same number.  This should make it easier for SYSOPS
  57.         to tell which is the newer version.  The short version will
  58.         be distributed as DOSNX20.ZIP and the enhanced version will
  59.         be distributed as DSX20.ZIP.

  65.     1.    READ.EXE will now handle files containing up to 30,000
  66.         lines.  This is a threefold increase from the previous
  67.         version.  A larger version, READXL.EXE, is included in
  68.         the enhanced version of DOSNIX which will handle files 
  69.         containing up to 100,000 lines.  READL.EXE requires 350k
  70.         of free memory to run.

  73.     2.    Speed has always been a problem with READ.  By using DOS
  74.         calls to read in the text instead of compiler routines, 
  75.         READ.EXE has been given a hefty speed increase which will
  76.         be apparent when doing text searches.  READXL.EXE will run
  77.         a little slower but still much faster than older versions
  78.         of READ.

  81.     4.    When attempting a case sensitive text search from the
  82.         command line, READ would abort with an "Invalid Option"
  83.         error.  When using the -f option to capture standard input,
  84.         text searches would not work.  Both problems have now been
  85.         fixed.
